Once my skin was almost back to normal, I started looking for an oil control moisturizer. I think I’ve found the best one so far. A while back I got two samples of the Cetaphil moisturizer and tested it out for a couple of weeks, and I’ve come to really like it for a few reasons.
The first thing I love of the bat is the spf 30. It’s not heavy or greasy and doesn’t irritate my skin, and I love that it’s spf of 30 and not some flimsy amount. So with the spf built in, I don’t have to layer sunscreen with my oil control moisturizer which then cancels out any oil control properties and I end up shiny real fast.
I also love that the ingredients in it haven’t irritated my skin. I’ve noticed that some oil control creams can sting or be harsh for whatever reason and this one hasn’t done that so far in addition to it not having a strong scent. Some products have a strong menthol smell and have even stung my eyes, yeah.
Lastly, it does a pretty good job at, what else, controlling oil. It’s probably not the most potent as I get oily after about 4 hours if I’m outside in the elements, but I think that’s good considering the whole package. If it’s a day where I want to be oil free for longer, I’ll combine it with the Cetaphil oil control wash, which I like on occasion, and another oil control cream. Even the other oil control moisturizer I use slightly burns for a few seconds. I’ve tried out so many oil control moisturizers from Murad and DDF to Boots No. 7 and Alba, and this Cetaphil one is really the best for its spf, gentle formula, and availability, since it’s a drug store brand. Also, it’s priced at around 14 U.S.D. which I think is an ok price for 4 oz, especially since most oil control moisturizers run much higher than that.
So I’ll be sticking with this one until I discover some hidden gems or the market introduces some new ones for me to try.
